Legal Aspects of Dealing with the Injured Worker
The MSEA and Sisk & Company are co-sponsoring a half-day seminar on handling the legal issues surrounding managing workers injured on the job. Tobie Hazard, a labor and employment partner with Holland & Hart, LLP, is our featured speaker and will address and answer questions on how to manage injured workers while staying in compliance with the variety of laws that impact injured workers.
Some of the issues to be covered in the seminar are:
- How Colorado workers’ compensation law, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act overlap when you have workers injured on the job
- Designing and implementing policies that will help you deal with the day-to-day managing of injured workers
- Managing return-to-work, modified and light duty programs
- Disciplining employees while on modified or light duty
- Terminating injured workers without violating state and federal laws
- Enforcing work safety rules and other steps to minimize claims
